FYC Executive Committee Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the Executive Committee to guide First Year Cleveland in its new iteration. The Executive Committee will be instrumental in leading the community-wide coalition in combating racial disparities in infant mortality, including racism and all its manifestations.

Submit nominations using the Executive Committee Nomination Form by Friday, April 23, 2021.

What does the Executive Committee do?
The Executive Committee will be the governing body for First Year Cleveland, tasked with:

  • Directing First Year Cleveland 2.0's overall strategy
  • Conducting financial decision-making and overseeing public and private sector grants
  • Advising the design and implementation of community-based and health care interventions
  • Serving as representative voices of First Year Cleveland with internal and external stakeholders, including civic leaders
  • Attracting additional support for First Year Cleveland

Who should apply?
More than half of Executive Committee members will be Black individuals to ensure that the community most impacted by infant mortality is engaged as decision-makers for First Year Cleveland's efforts.

First Year Cleveland is also particularly interested in nominees with experience in or connection to any of the following sectors or skill sets:

  • City, county, and state government
  • Communications
  • Community organizing, especially in neighborhoods most impacted by infant mortality
  • Equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Faith-based outreach
  • Fatherhood initiatives
  • Federally qualified health centers
  • Fiscal management
  • Hospital systems
  • Philanthropy
  • Program planning and evaluation
  • Public health
  • Social services

First Year Cleveland is also interested in incorporating the perspective of those who have been directly impacted by poor birth outcomes, including premature birth, low birth weight, and pregnancy or infant loss.

How do I nominate myself or someone else?
First Year Cleveland encourages all interested community members to submit their nominations using the Executive Committee Nomination Form by Friday, April 23. Those interested may nominate themselves or someone else who they believe would be a good fit for the Committee.
